Recording your own life story can seem daunting. Working with a skilled interviewer turns the process from overwhelming to energizing. Telling your life story to a trained listener who asks good questions often elicits a fuller, more revealing story than you might remember on your own. A skilled interviewer can help you recall key events in your life, document your old black and white photos and record those wonderful anecdotes in your own voice so that future generations not only hear your story, but listen to it as you speak to them.
I arrange a meeting with clients ahead of time to do a pre-interview so that I can help them plan and organize what kind of story they want to tell and what pictures or memorabilia they want edited into the final DVD. I can also include old movies or anything else that they want included.
I have been an interviewer since 1994. I started interviewing for Steven Spielberg’s Survivors of the Shoah Foundation. Everyone has an amazing story to tell and share with their future generations. On a personal note, my grandparents were from Romania. However, my mother was born in 1920 in Miami, Arizona. Unfortunately, I have no idea how or why they ended up in Arizona from Eastern Europe. I have no way to connect the dots. That’s what I can do for you and your family. They will no longer have to guess who their great-grandparents, grandparents or other relatives were and where they came from.
